Speaking out on Inequality

MSTP Associate Director, Robyn Klein, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Medicine, recently investigated programs for six major neuroimmunology conferences held in 2016 and discovered that the number of female speakers was significantly fewer than the number of male speakers. Furthermore, invited female speakers had significantly better credentials than their male counterparts.  Ultimately, her findings revealed that female scientists are often under-represented on organizing committees, and including more females on these committees improves the gender balance of invited speakers.  Click here​ to read more.
