Mia Henderson’s perspective

Besides not being the only one of my college friends without a “real job,” I’m really excited to be able to practice medicine and think about science in the same week!  During the preclinical years of medical school, I really missed being in the lab.  Now that I’m in the graduate training phase, I really miss interacting with patients.  While there are plenty of opportunities to attend talks during med school and to shadow or volunteer clinically in grad school, its really easy to get wrapped up in the things you have to do and not make quite as much time for the things you really like to do.  I look forward to the day when I can put down one for a few hours and do the other without feeling guilty – they’ll both be part of my job.
