Research summary
My research project focused on investigating the lymphangiogenic response after acute kidney injury (AKI). The heart and liver express lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) with distinct transcriptional identities and functions that can aid in cell survival, macrophage response, and organ repair after injury. However, it is not known if renal LECs play a similar role on proximal tubule cells, pericytes, or resident macrophages after AKI. The project worked to address these questions by characterizing the basic lymphangiogenic response in AKI and repair using IHC and qPCR.
