Research summary
During my last rotation in the Ellebedy lab, my project involved using a mouse model that the lab developed to determine whether knocking out IgG1 secretion would have any effect on germinal center dynamics. In order to answer this question, we measured germinal center size and quantity via immunofluorescence and we also measured antibody titers for various immunoglobulin isotypes in these knock outs to see how the immune response would compensate for the loss of secretory IgG1. Once we determined that IgG1 secretion knock out increased germinal center size and number, our next goal was to determine through which mechanism this occurs (this is currently ongoing).
