Research summary
My research focuses on utilizing electronic health record (EHR) based raw audit logs to characterize the perioperative workload of Anesthesiologists. Perioperative workload has been previously measured through observations, physiology, or survey based tools; therefore, leveraging raw audit logs based measures allows for an unobtrusive alternative measure of workload in this space. This study employs techniques in both data science and clinical informatics in order to generate workload measures from EHR based audit logs. These measures are then validated by characterizing our measure of workload with previous findings as well as compare it to billing standards of workload compensation.
