Research summary
My project in the Lavine Lab is focused on the effects of SARS-CoV-2 on the heart and cardiovascular system. Early in the pandemic of COVID-19, it became clear that some patients with severe symptoms present with cardiac symptoms. However, the extent and etiology of these manifestations were unknown. In my work, I am looking into cell types that are susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 in human heart, effects of the virus on these cells in vitro and developing a murine model of SARS-CoV-2 induced myocarditis
