Research summary
During my rotation, I worked on a project looking at how BTK, a protein involved in B cell signaling, affects IgA production, coating of commensal bacteria, and repertoire in the context of autoimmune diabetes. I found that BTK deficiency decreases total IgA levels in the serum and small intestine of germ-free mice and that BTK deficiency altered IgA coating of commensals in wildtype mice.
