Research summary
This past summer I worked in the lab of Dr. Megan Cooper studying the phenotypic and functional consequences of a TLR7 variant identified in a pediatric patient presenting with lupus-like disease. This was in complement to the lab’s ongoing interest in TLR8 gain of function variants and monogenic inborn errors of immunity (IEIs). I used primary cell and cell-line based assays to measure the functional response of WT and variant TLR7 to known TLR7 and other TLR agonists, as well as using flow cytometry to characterize the B cell phenotype of the patient and healthy controls.
