Research summary
During my first lab rotation, I optimized microbial extraction protocol and analyzed microbial communities in skin swab samples of 70 patients to identify potential microbiome-related stimuli of Hidradenitis suppurativa, a painful skin-tunneling condition, under the guidance of Dr. Dantas and Dr. Rengarajan.
During my second lab rotation, I designed an experimental procedure to look for stress signals from human keratinocyte cultures when polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, common harmful air pollutants, were added after microbial interactions in the form of microbial supernatant compared to being added directly to cell cultures
